It’s a new year, and just like last year, there are A TON of books that I can’t wait to be released, too many to possibly name in one blog post. But, at the very least, here are my top ten most anticipated reads.

Finale by Stephanie Garber (Caraval #3)
Released May 7th, 2019

Hands down this is the book I’m most excited about in 2019. I’m so invested in the characters and dying to know what happens to them. May canNOT come soon enough.

The final installment of this trilogy will pick up two months after the last Caraval, when the dreaded Fates were released from the cards. As Legend prepares to take the throne, Tella prepares to stop him, as she believes her mother is the rightful heir. In the meantime, Scarlett has challenged Julian and her former fiance to a competition where the winner receives her hand.

To Best The Boys by Mary Weber
Released March 5th, 2019

I fell in love with Mary Weber and her ability to tell stories when I read her Storm Siren series, so I am excited to read her next book!

This is a story about a young girl trying to defy the odds and prove her worth in a culture that says only men can do certain things. Rhen disguises herself and enters a competition meant only for boys in an attempt to help her mom after she succumbs to an illness. Will she win? Better yet, will she survive?

Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas (Crescent City #1)
Released Late 2019

I’m an automatic Sarah J. Maas fan. Any book she releases is going to be on my automatic most anticipated list. I’m particularly excited about this one because it’s introducing us to a new world and story, and the timeframe is closer to contemporary times (not the typical medieval fantasy).

After her best friend is brutally killed, Bryce Quinlan teams up with a powerful warrior-angel to track down the killer. On their quest, they discover an even more treacherous enemy that could destroy the world.

Romanov by Nadine Brandes
Released May 7th, 2019

Last year I really fell in love with historical fantasy novels, on of them being Fawkes, also by Nadine Brandes. Which is why I’m on the edge of my seat in anticipation for her next historical fantasy, Romanov.

Anastatia Romanov is given the task of smuggling an ancient spell out in her suitcase as they leave for exile. But on the run, things go wrong and she must choose to either release the spell, or accept the help of a handsome Bolshevik soldier.

Coral by Sara Ella
Released September 10th, 2019

Who doesn’t love a good fairytale retelling right? What intrigues me especially about this one is it centers on the Little Mermaid, and I’ve never read a retelling about that story!

Sixteen year old Coral has contracted the dreaded Disease which infects mermaids with emotions that lead them to commit unspeakable acts. But the emotions fascinate her and make her question what she’s been raised to believe. And everything changes when she meets a homeless human girl with a broken heart and spirit.

Defy Me by Tahereh Mafi (Shatter Me #5)
Released April 2nd, 2019

The Shatter me series was an unexpected love of mine I discovered in 2018. I’m completely entranced by the series and its characters now so I’m ready to read more about them in the next installment.

So far, Juliette’s short tenure as supreme commander has been anything but smooth. After Warner shatters her heart with his secrets, she must learn to deal with her problems on her own and fight against the darkness trying to consumer her.

King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo (Nikolai Duology #1)
Released January 29th, 2019

Last year, I read my first Leigh Bardugo book, and became a lifetime fan. I read the Six of Crows duology which introduced me to the Grisha-verse, but now I’m excited to get to know more about this Nikolai I’ve heard so much about in Bardugo’s new duology.

This two-book series kicks off with King Nikolai attempting to help his country recover from its bloody civil war and keep enemies at bay. But as a dark magic grows inside him, he must be willing to risk everything to save himself and his county.

Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi (Legacy of Orïsha #2)
Released March 5th, 2019

There’s a reason Tomi’s first book, Children of Blood and Bone was such a big hit last year: because it’s a fantasic book. Excellent storytelling used to bring up important issue and provide different perspectives. Can’t wait to see Tomi’s success continue to grow and even more excited to see how the story continues.

Zélie and Amari have finally succeeded in bringing magic back to the land of Orïsha. Which is great, except now the selfish and greedy nobles also have power. As the threat against the Orïsha grows, Zélie works to amass an army to fight against the nobles trying to smother them and help get Amari on the throne.

On The Come Up by Angie Thomas
Released February 5th, 2019

The Hate U Give was a life changing book for me. It made me realize that I’ve lived a sheltered, privileged life and I need to read more books that get me to step outside that comfort zone. So I can’t wait to see what amazing story Angie has in store for 2019.

Sixteen-year-old Bri’s dream is to be the greatest rapper of all time, especially since her dad was an underground rapping legend before he died. But when her family hits hard times and is on the brink of homelessness, she doesn’t just want to make it big, she has to.

Capturing the Devil by Kerri Maniscalco (Stalking Jack The Ripper #4)
Released September 10th, 2019

I’ve only read the first book in this series, but I loved it SO MUCH I have no doubt I’ll be able to speed read through books two an three in no time and be ready for the four and final book.

In this final installing of the thrilling Stalking Jack the Ripper series, Audrey and Thomas set out on a cat and mouse game to track down the depraved, elusive killer known as the White City Devil. And hopefully, their relationship doesn’t crumble in the process.
